James Monroe Wright, Sr., 71, of Callahan, passed away Saturday March 7 following an illness. He was born in Charlotte, NC to the late James Everette Wright and Flora Elizabeth Helms Wright Barefoot. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Jacksonville, FL. He was preceded in death by his grandchild: James M. Wright, III.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years: Velga V. Wright of Callahan, FL; his children: Richard (Cathy) Duran, Sherry Lynn Wright, and Kathy (Raymond) Mattox all of Callahan, FL, James M. (Stephanie) Wright, Jr., and William Scott (Wendy) Shanaberger both of Jacksonville, FL, and James Charles (Kim) Shanaberger of White Hall, PA; a Sister: Frances Johnson of Monroe, NC; 9-Grandchildren and 8-Great Grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Wednesday March 11 at Nassau Funeral Home in Callahan from 10-11 AM. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, March 11 at the funeral home with Rev. Steve Wolgamott officiating. Burial will be Wednesday March 11 at 1:30 PM at the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
