Obituary of Nollie L. Hinton (1934-2009)

April 17, 1934 – October 1, 2009

Nollie L. Hinton, 75 of Callahan passed away October 1 at Shand’s Jacksonville.

He was born April 17, 1934 in Runnelstown, Mississippi to Tillton and Eugina Backstrom Hinton . He retired from Hinton Trucking Company, was president of Studebaker club, President of the Jacksonville Off shore Fishing Club, Member of the Lions Club of Callahan, Deacon of Riverside Primitive Baptist Church, President of the Deacons Association of Florida and attended Jones County College.

Survivors include his wife: Janelle Hinton of Callahan; One son: Michael Hinton (Jeannie) of Callahan; Two Daughters: Janet Scharf (Michael S., M.D.) of Jacksonville, Fl.; Brenda H. Reed of Callahan; One Sister: Maye Hinton Smith of San Antonio, Tx.; Two Grandsons: Ray Shaffer (Ashleigh); and Michael Hinton, II.; Two Granddaughters: Christe Shaffer Anglea (Brian); and Jentrie Hinton; Two Great-grandchildren: Garrett Anglea and Morgan Anglea.

The family will receive friends Sunday, October 4, 2009 from 6 until 8 PM at Nassau Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Riverside Primative Baptist Church Building Fund, 702 Dellwood Ave., Jacksonville, Fl. 32204. Funeral services will be Monday, October 5, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Riverside Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Mike Newman officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Cemetery.
