Thomas H. Waters, 76, of Callahan FL went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 23, 2016.

Tom was born on June 22, 1940 in Worthington Springs, FL to Lucile and T.H Waters Jr. A graduate of Union High School in Worthington where he was on the Class Reunion Committee and loved helping plan a class reunion every 5 years. He joined the Navy right out of High School then the Army National Guard and later retired from the US Airforce with a total of 26 years of military service. He later retired again after working for the State Prison System. He was well educated in plumbing, small engines and the building of race cars. He has had several dirt track race cars that he would race locally and away, received several achievement awards with Mechanic of Race cars and small engines. He loved showing his car at car shows. His father was a preacher so he was brought up in church and at present time was an active member of Callahan First Baptist. Tom had a heart for people and enjoyed doing anything he could to help them, always being there for them. A family man who loved his wife dearly, grand kids, children, sister and brother in law, nieces and nephews and his dog “Rascal”. He obtained an extended family during his year at Quality Health of Fernandina where he made many friends and was considered the “Sherriff” for the facility. He loved to do things for others and would always tell you “God has the plan”. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife; Betty Jo Waters, stepsons; David (Denise) Sutton and Chad (Sheryl) Sutton, step grandchildren; Kyle Raulerson, Kayla Raulerson, Nathaniel Sutton and Lil Chad Sutton, sons; Michael and Donald Waters, grandchildren; Zack and Seth Waters, 2 nieces and 1 nephew.

A viewing will be held in the Nassau Funeral Home Chapel on Monday December 26, 2016 from 6-7:00 PM with a celebration of his life from 7-8:00 PM. The family will have a private interment at the Jacksonville National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations in his memory be made to Vitas Hospice.
